Executive Summary :
The remote monitoring system is a healthcare delivery method that uses technology outside the traditional clinical setting. It enables the transfer of information between patients and physicians digitally in a regulated fashion.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need for a remote monitoring system where the vitals can be tracked remotely by doctors and physicians. This uber advanced system was accompanied by a medical-grade Bluetooth enabled device that can capture vitals of patients and send it to our app.

These vitals get synced in real-time and are also made available on a web app for physician and doctor. The system is completely self-sufficient and automated inter terms raising alerts, sending custom questionnaires, and informing the associated doctor.

Challenges:
The primary hurdles included the following:

  • Remote monitoring of patient vitals.
  • Reporting associated doctors, physicians, and healthcare workers with patient’s vitals.
  • Transparent remuneration system for settling dues for services provided to the patient.
  • Reducing the cost of care and providing timely and accurate healthcare services.

Solutions:
When COVID-19 was the cusp of its spread in the US, the country had lifted its barriers for tech and healthcare companies speeding up legal complications that were traditionally a major challenge. The complete RMS majorly had three facets.

1. Medical grade BLE-enabled wrist device which was provided to patients of registered healthcare organisations.

2. A patient-facing application made available on both Android and iOS devices. The app syncs with the medical device to collect the patient’s vitals. The data was further made available to the physician, doctors, and clinicians as graphs, trends, and reports.

3. A web app for organisations, and associated healthcare workers to review the patient information and take corrective measures. The web app is also used by the operations teams to settle the invoices and make payments.

Results:
The outcome of the solution included:

  • An End-to-end HIPAA-compliant IoT-based solution comprising of medical-grade sensors used to collect patient data via fitness watch.
  • Reduced unnecessary clinic visits, ER visits, and readmission penalties.
  • Automated transparent billing settlements.
  • Continuous care in COVID-19 containment zones.
  • Ensuring clinician’s safety by providing quality care to a patient’s wish list while multiplying clinician’s income.
